Evaluation:
I'm very pleased with the outcome of my poster, the conjunction of elements in the background, midground and foreground work cohesively to display drama, mystery and thriller conventions. The poster has a somewhat abstract theme to it, this included with the gloomy and diluted colour palette of primarily greys helps build the tense environment prevalent in drama, thriller and mystery films. The upside down buildings entice the viewer as they are something not usually seen across film posters, while they also give ideas to the environment to expect from the film.
The bleak atmosphere is creates through the lack of colour, with only the sky showing some form of colour. The sky is also something which is out of reach from ground level, displays a dismal world. The positioning of the characters helps create this dismal atmosphere too.
When making this poster I used a range of techniques including; cutting, masking, selecting, making a brush, using brushes, rubber tool, clone and stamp tool, framing, opacity settings, gradients, adjustments to colour, contrast etc and more.
If I were to do this again, I wouldn't change much in terms of techniques and aesthetics, though I would attempt to create a more intricate design with different compositions and elements.
